Kaytranada adds his own funky touch to Pharrell's hit of the decade, "Happy"

Pharrell's "Happy" has got to be the hit of the decade right? Maybe even the century? A song that promotes happiness with your inner self, and spreading the joy to whoever you meet. I'm sure by now, unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past couple of months, that you've heard the seminal hit of 2014, and no doubt you've seen the tears of joy brought onto Pharrell himself when he saw videos of people dancing to his track all over the globe. Well, just as we thought the "Happy" hype train was slowly grinding to a halt (trust me, my mother plays this track every single day without fail), it's been injected with a new lease of life by the immensely talented beatsmith, Kaytranada.

The Montreal born beat wizard, who's back catalogue of remixes and original tracks has been getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike, is seen as a new pioneer in the world of electronic doused hip hop. As we start off our working weeks, probably dreary eyed and in need of a pick me up, Kaytranada has blessed us with that little something we need to perk us up for the week ahead. With disjointed bass lines, and a funked up drum beat that really gets your body moving, Kaytranada laces the acapella across the top, whilst also adding some dreamy sounding synths to give the track a bit more atmosphere. These elements combined flip the original and give it a bit more hip hop credibility.

You can stream Kaytranada's edition of "Happy" below, and be sure to keep your eyes and ears locked onto EARMILK for any more new music that comes from the Montreal native. Also, if you hit up this link you can see all of his tour dates for the summer months, he could be coming to a city near you!
